Robe first, roulette later: where the water and treatment rooms are worth the trip

On some weekends the robe matters more than the tables. Here is what each resort publishes about its water, treatment rooms and gym — closures included — ranked by the desk's wellness marks.

  1. Hilton Lac-Leamy4.36A

over the river from Ottawa (QC)

Heated water inside and outside all year, hot tubs included; 17 treatment rooms at Amerispa, with the Serenity package from C$252 on weekdays; steam and sauna; free gym access at any hour. Untouchable.

  2. Fallsview4.60A+

    above the Horseshoe Falls (ON)

Damara Day Spa downstairs, swimming from 07:00 to 22:00, and whirlpool tubs in some suites that look straight at the falls.

  3. River Rock4.29A−

    Richmond, by YVR (BC)

Absolute Spa keeps six rooms busy from 10:00 to 18:00; add a fitness centre and the slide pool.

  4. Casino Rama4.01B+

    Rama, near Orillia (ON)

New since the refit: a downstairs spa with steam and saunas. The pool stays up on level three.

  5. Great Canadian Toronto4.28A−

    by Woodbine, Etobicoke (ON)

No spa, but the 2023 hotel lists a pool, a hot tub, a sauna and a steam room.

  6. Caesars Windsor4.35A

    Windsor riverfront (ON)

A grown-ups-only indoor pool and big whirlpool, plus sauna and fitness room for staying guests.

Three places to leave the swimsuit at home

Cascades Langley never had one; Hard Rock Ottawa lists none; and Grey Eagle has shut its pool until the building work ends, though the sauna and outdoor hot tub carry on.
