Five stars between two lakes, outdoor water steaming in January
The desk's favourite place to unwind: a five-star Hilton plugged into Loto-Québec's casino, with indoor and outdoor water kept warm through every January, a 17-room Amerispa, a theatre seating 1,100 and upward of 1,400 machines. Parliament Hill is a ten-minute drive across the river.

Why it wears our badge
Fallsview out-scores it; this is still where the desk would spend its own weekend. The casino came first (1996); in 2001 came the Hilton, plus a theatre and a conference centre. Ratings: five stars from Québec's CITQ (held since 2001) and Four Diamonds from CAA/AAA (held since 2002). Hilton manages the keys; Loto-Québec manages the gaming.
Keys
How many keys? Tourisme Outaouais says 349; Bonjour Québec splits it into 312 rooms and 37 suites. Classic: two queens. Deluxe: one king and a vanity by the entrance. Executive guests take the top three floors and a private lift. Suites: Junior, Murphy, One-bedroom. In each: 47-inch screen, safe, mini fridge, robe and slippers, Crabtree & Evelyn products; the hotel promises Lac Leamy and Lac de la Carrière beyond the glass. Rooms ready at 16:00, due back at 11:00; in-room dining runs 06:30–22:30, seven days.
Water and wellness
Full marks. Pools and hot tubs — indoor and outdoor — are heated through all four seasons. Amerispa: 17 treatment rooms; the two-hour Serenity package is C$252 Monday–Thursday, C$308 Friday–Sunday, and spa entry includes pools, whirlpools, sauna and steam bath. Gym: free, 24 hours.
The floor
48 live tables, 1,400-plus machines, electronic terminals, a poker lounge, a Mise-o-jeu betting area. Hours: 09:00–05:00 Monday–Thursday; no closing Friday–Sunday. Québec plays at 18, and staff can ask for government photo ID from anyone appearing younger than 25.
Stage and bars
Théâtre du Casino: 1,100 in rows, 770 cabaret-style, 18+ bar special events. Bar 7: bands and DJs from 19:00 Friday and Saturday, Latin nights Thursday. Bacchus: scotch, a fireplace, a cigar room. Aléa (nightclub): late, 23:00 till 03:00, with a dress code.
Kitchens
Arôme is the signature: grill and seafood over Lac de la Carrière, an Experience menu of three courses, and Sunday's brunch. Budget: Banco Bistro (rotisserie, steak, pizza). Comfort: L'Instant, where the smoked meat is Montréal-style — on rye, or on poutine — and there is pasta too. The TGV poolside snack bar reopens next summer.
Getting in
By car the centre of Ottawa is roughly ten minutes off (6.4 km to Parliament; 4.1 to the ByWard Market; 7.3 to the canal skateway), and the airport around 25. By bus, STO's Rapibus calls at Lac-Leamy station. The outdoor lot is free, valet is paused, EV charging is available, and dogs up to 34 kg pay C$50.
Desk verdict
Book the spa Monday to Thursday to skip the weekend price, and keep Friday night for the tables, which then run straight through.
