Casino resorts that work for a family trip
Updated · hotel facts as of
Kids can come along more often than people assume, because the age limit fences off gaming and some bars rather than the building. The real question is what there is to do for them — and one resort we cover refuses them outright. Strongest family pick first:
River Cree4.00B+
Edmonton's western fringe (AB)
From 29 July 2024 the resort has let accompanied children into every part that is not gaming. Public skating on twin NHL rinks, a whirlpool by the pool, a family suite in the Luxury range and a free mall bus put it first.
Fallsview4.60A+
above the Horseshoe Falls (ON)
Everything bar the gaming floor is open to children. Pool rules want a parent beside under-12s. Nearby: the Butterfly Conservatory, Bird Kingdom, Clifton Hill — and a falls-facing key wows any age.
Great Canadian Toronto4.28A−
by Woodbine, Etobicoke (ON)
A 19-plus adult books, the children share. The six-sleeper 2-Bedroom Suite has a microwave and fridge, the pool comes with a hot tub, and race days at Woodbine next door usually cost nothing to watch.
River Rock4.29A−
Richmond, by YVR (BC)
The pool has a slide, several restaurants welcome every age, and the train makes Vancouver days out easy. Note that check-in requires a 19-year-old.
Casino New Brunswick3.61B−
Moncton, by Magnetic Hill (NB)
An adult books, and anyone under 12 is supervised in the water. For outings: the zoo at Magnetic Hill, and the Hopewell Rocks on a longer day.
Grey Eagle3.84B
Tsuut'ina land, Calgary's edge (AB)
The hotel suggests Standard Two Queen keys for families; the Event Centre admits any age; Calgary's zoo and Heritage Park are both close by. Swimming is off while the builders are in, so the hotel hands out free city-pool passes.
Leave the children with grandparents
Under-19s cannot so much as enter Hard Rock Ottawa. Caesars Windsor is a closer call: Augustus is the family tower and Colosseum shows admit any age, but the pool is adults-only.
