Minimum casino age in Canada, province by province
Page revised · data checked
Casino age in Canada is a provincial matter: 19 in Ontario, British Columbia and New Brunswick, 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Québec. It always covers the gaming floor, and some resorts extend it to bars, venues or the whole property. Check these points before you book.

Bring photo ID
Government-issued photo ID is the safe bet in every province. Since June 2023, B.C. casinos have checked it for every guest against the restricted-entry list. Québec staff can ask anyone who looks under 25. A few casinos want more: Great Blue Heron in Ontario lists an original, valid government photo ID plus a second photo ID at entry.
Hotels that set their own age rules
- Hard Rock Ottawa — 19+ across the whole property, rooms and restaurants included.
- Great Canadian Toronto and Casino New Brunswick — the guest who books must be 19+; children can stay but not enter 19+ areas.
- River Rock — 19 is the minimum age to check in.
- River Cree — minors have had access to all non-gaming areas with an adult since July 29, 2024.
- Fallsview — kids welcome on the property; no babies in arms or strollers on the gaming floor.
Self-exclusion programmes
You can ban yourself from casinos in any province through a voluntary self-exclusion programme, for a period you set; certain programmes can't be ended early. Thinking about it? Call the helpline for your province in the table above — it costs nothing and stays confidential.
