How we score casino hotels
Page revised · data checked
Six criteria, each scored 0 to 10, roll up into a weighted average, so a single strength can't push a hotel to the top on its own.
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Rooms & views | 25% |
| Casino floor | 20% |
| Dining | 20% |
| Shows & events | 15% |
| Pool, spa & fitness | 10% |
| Getting there | 10% |
What we look at under each heading
- Rooms & views — room and suite count, the range of types, published sizes, the view and any recent renovation.
- Casino floor — square footage, slots and tables, opening hours, poker rooms and high-limit areas.
- Dining — breadth, a signature restaurant, late-night food, buffet and brunch.
- Shows & events — venue size, who's booked and who's allowed in.
- Pool, spa & fitness — what's open now, not what used to be.
- Getting there — airport and downtown distances, transit and parking.
Sources, in order of trust
First, the hotel's and casino operator's own pages. Second, provincial tourism boards and hotel-brand sites. Third, press coverage and Wikipedia, always named when used. Conflicting numbers — Hilton Lac-Leamy's room count, for example — are shown side by side; unpublished facts are marked as such, not guessed. This edition's facts were checked on October 23, 2026, and the new-openings page on October 28, 2026.
A note of honesty: we did not stay at these hotels for this edition. These are desk reviews of published information.
Money
We take no payment from hotels, and hotel links are ordinary links. On the two online casino pages, links to casino sites may be affiliate links — sign up through one and we may earn a commission, at no cost to you. That never affects hotel scores, and hotel rankings are not for sale.
Corrections
Restaurants close, pools reopen and fees change. Spot something stale? Email [email protected] and we'll check it against the source, then update the page and its date.
