Cascades Casino Resort: our review

Page revised · data checked

Cascades is Gateway's Langley City casino, with the 77-room Coast hotel attached: a good steak at ATLAS, round-the-clock gaming and free parking, but no pool and no theatre.

Book it for: Dinner and a few hours of gaming in the Fraser Valley.
Look elsewhere if: A pool or a show is part of the plan — neither is on offer.

Casino plus Coast hotel

Cascades opened in Langley City in May 2005 under Gateway Casinos. The rooms belong to the adjoining Coast Langley City Hotel & Convention Centre — 77 of them, refreshed in 2018. Options include the Coast King and Coast Two Queens, a corner Queen with a sofa bed, an accessible Queen with a roll-in shower, a Hospitality Suite with a wet bar and an Executive Suite with a balcony.

Gaming

80,000 sq. ft., 1,000-plus slots, open 24 hours, plus blackjack, roulette, bingo and a poker room. The bingo hall replaced the 420-seat Summit Theatre in 2018, which means there's no showroom.

Dining

ATLAS steak + fish is Gateway's top restaurant brand. Match Eatery & Public House adds DJs and live music; hotel guests eat breakfast at The Breakfast Room; and every Sunday from 11 a.m. there's a brunch buffet in the convention ballroom. Glacier Bar: 11 a.m.–2 a.m.

Practical points

No pool — the hotel says so directly — but a 24-hour gym. Check in at 3 p.m., out at noon. Free parking. Pets with pre-approval: $25 a night for one, $40 for two. YVR is about an hour's drive, Abbotsford airport roughly 30 minutes; Fort Langley and the Greater Vancouver Zoo are nearby.

Our advice

A reliable local casino with a perfectly decent small hotel — not a resort, and not trying to be one.

What travellers ask us

Does Cascades Langley have a swimming pool?

No; the Coast hotel confirms there's no pool.

Is there still a theatre at Cascades Langley?

No. The Summit Theatre closed in 2018 and its space became the bingo hall.
