Caesars Windsor: our review
Page revised · data checked
Caesars Windsor is built on scale: 758 rooms in two towers, most looking across the river at Detroit; a Colosseum that seats 5,000 with nobody more than 225 feet from the stage; and a gaming floor of 2,000-plus slots and 80-plus tables. It's also genuinely downtown, on the Windsor riverfront, not beside a highway exit.
Book it for: A Colosseum concert plus a riverside downtown break, with a wide choice of rooms and suites.
Look elsewhere if: Swimming with the kids is on the plan — the indoor pool admits adults only.
Size and setting
Count the beds and Caesars Windsor wins: 758 rooms, more than at any other hotel we review. They're split across two towers — Augustus, which the resort pitches to families, and the older Forum. The address is Riverside Drive in downtown Windsor, and the thing most rooms are sold on sits right outside: the Detroit River and, beyond it, the Detroit skyline.
Room by room
Start with the Resort Room: about 402 sq. ft., one king bed, a large desk, a bathtub with a separate shower, and a river outlook. A refit covering every room was announced in 2018, and by September 2019 the Forum Tower had new carpet, new bedding and 55-inch TVs throughout. Suites run downward from the Executive — five-piece marble ensuite, a TV set into the mirror, a separate butler entrance and, in some, a fireplace — to the Junior, with a separate living room (and a whirlpool only in the Forum Tower), and the Resort Deluxe, which has a whirlpool tub and a wet bar.
Check-in and checkout are the usual 4 p.m. and 11 a.m. Budget for the resort fee, too: the booking page we tested added $23.40 per night, charged at checkout.
Gaming, poker and the sportsbook
Figures here come from the resort's fact sheet dated August 2023: 2,000-plus slots; 80-plus tables, including what it billed as Ontario's only live craps game; a dedicated World Series of Poker room; and a 1,700 sq. ft. Caesars Sportsbook with 22 large screens. You'll need to be 19 for the casino and its bars. Caesars Rewards is the loyalty card, and its members get presale access for the Colosseum.
Why people drive to Windsor
For a lot of guests, the Colosseum is the trip: 5,000 seats, none farther than 225 feet from the stage, the resort says. A statement in July 2026 confirmed that every age is admitted unless a particular show sets a limit. On the calendar when we looked: Alice Cooper, Friday, November 6, 2026.
Eating and drinking
Neros Steakhouse is the special-occasion room. For everything else there's Spago Trattoria (Italian, served family style), Legends Sports Bar, Johnny Rockets, Café 377 for breakfast and lunch, and a Tim Hortons on the Forum Tower main floor that's open 24 hours. Vu Bar has the skyline; Cosmos Lounge has local bands on Friday and Saturday nights. Club-goers should note that ARIIUS left in January 2026 for a new address on Ouellette Avenue, so there's no nightclub on site now.
Pool, sauna, gym
Adults only at the indoor pool, which has a big whirlpool, lounge chairs and towel service. Hotel guests can also use the sauna and the fitness area. No spa appears in the resort's current amenity list.
Arriving
From Windsor International Airport it's a short taxi ride. Drivers can use the six-storey garage at 257 Glengarry Avenue, fully reopened on July 8, 2026 after more than a year of repairs. From Detroit, the Tunnel Bus — privately run, $15, cashless — stops at McDougall and University, near the resort.
Our advice
Book Caesars Windsor around a Colosseum date, or for two nights downtown with plenty of room choice. It works best for couples. Families are fine in the Augustus Tower, but the kids will need somewhere else to swim.
